Vaja unveils her cover of Depeche Mode's "People Are People." She is the 3rd recording artist in history to release her directorial debut music video as a world premiere at the iconic Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA (April 4th, 2023).
Her 6X award-winning music video ππππππ πππ ππππππ has won the hearts of many film festivals around the world. Vaja was featured in Variety Magazine with Depeche Mode & Guitar Thrills Magazine regarding her new hit single. The theme of the film is based on a futuristic dystopia cyberpunk world. The cityscape and desert transforms into a beautiful array of colors, symbolizing unity. Vaja was inspired by the original Blade Runner and Mad Max classic films, which ignited her passion for telling her unique story about living in a world full of different people in a society that challenges individuality and race. Visually and emotional scenes resonate with those who see the beauty of diversity, empathy and the universal bond that connects us all.
Vaja (pronounced Vasia) was born in Tacoma, Washington, then grew up in Carmel, Indiana, to her African American Father, a military full colonel in the Army, and her Asian / Hawaiian mother. At an early age, her mother took Vaja to see her favorite bands, Depeche Mode and Metallica perform. Mesmerized by this experience ignited her passion for electronic rock music.
Vaja received a soccer scholarship at Stetson University in Deland, Florida. She then realized she wanted to focus more on her music and film career. She trained at prominent acting schools: The Valencia Character Company in Orlando, Florida, Stella Adler Conservatory for Actors & Carter Thor Studio in Los Angeles, California. Traveling gave her a wealth of experiences and diverse personalities to draw upon while developing her acting skills.
In 2007, Vaja released her critically acclaimed Debut EP βAwakened By Silenceβ feat. drummer Adrian Young of No Doubt. She has headlined the House of Blues, Viper Room, Whisky a Go Go and she was the opening act for Metal Skool (aka Steel Panther). Vaja has 60 posters in Guitar Centerβs across the nation as well. Joel Selvin, Sr. Pop Music Critic, San Francisco Chronicle, quoted Vaja as, βA bronze goddess with a big guitar and a voice that cuts like a knife.β
Director Paul W.S. Anderson offered Vaja to be the Voice of the Umbrella Corporation in the 3D sci-fi action feature film βResident Evil: Retributionβ (2012) starring Milla Jovovich.
In 2014, Vaja released her debut single / music video βWe Found Loveβ and next single βA Part Of Meβ with Specialist Sound on Suspended Motion Records (UK).
Vaja & Serenity released their "One Nation" EP (2015): βOne Nationβ and βFight For Meβ via Record Label Dirty Duck Audio.
In 2017, Vaja became the Host of Music Totally Obsessed (MusicTO).
Vaja sang the National Anthem twice at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the NBAβs LA Lakers and WNBAβs LA Sparks during 4th of July.
